SUN Xia is an associate researcher at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS)’ Institute of International Relations.
Previously, Sun served as a lecturer at the Department of Law, Shandong University of Technology. Afterward, she taught courses on global governance and energy diplomacy and supervised students’ dissertations at SASS. Sun was also a visiting scholar at Gothenburg University, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
Sun’s research interests include China-Middle East relations, energy issues in the Middle East and Eurasia, China’s energy security and foreign policy, China-US relations in the Middle East. She has published many academic papers, policy articles, and books, mainly in Chinese. She is the author of the book Power and Norm: Energy Security Cooperation in Northeast Asia (Publisher, Year) and the co-editor of the book The Belt and Road Country Study Report: Saudi Arabia Volume (China Social Sciences Press, 2023).
Sun’s analysis has been featured in various news and media platforms, including China Petroleum News and China Daily, among other outlets.
