Bio
Neeshad Shafi is an award-winning environmentalist with 9+ years of experience analyzing global climate policy, strategy, and advocacy with a focus on the Gulf and Middle East. Neeshad is an expert on the social and political dimensions of environmental policies. He is currently working on using carbon markets and finance to drive decarbonization and a net-zero carbon future. He was named in the Apolitical List of the 100 Most Influential People in Climate Policy in 2019 and 2022 and, in 2024, was listed in the Climate 100 List by UK’s Independent News. Neeshad holds a master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering. He was a Non-Resident Fellow with the Wilson Center and Middle East Institute (MEI). He is a widely published author and speaks regularly at international forums and with media outlets.
