Bio
Azadeh Zamirirad is an Iran researcher and deputy head of the Africa and Middle East Division at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin, where she provides policy advice to the German government, the Bundestag, and other decision-makers in Europe. Her research interests include authoritarianism, elite dynamics, and Iranian foreign and security policy, with a focus on Iran’s nuclear file, strategic outlook towards the east, and perceptions of global order.
