SUN Xia is a visiting fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs. She is also an associate researcher at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS)’ Institute of International Relations.
Previously, Sun served as a lecturer at the Department of Law, Shandong University of Technology. Afterward, she taught courses on global governance and energy diplomacy and supervised students’ dissertations at SASS. Sun was also a visiting scholar at Gothenburg University, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
Sun’s research interests include China-Middle East relations, energy issues in the Middle East and Eurasia, China’s energy security and foreign policy, China-US relations in the Middle East. She has published many academic papers, policy articles, and books, mainly in Chinese. She is the author of the book Power and Norm: Energy Security Cooperation in Northeast Asia (Publisher, Year) and the co-editor of the book The Belt and Road Country Study Report: Saudi Arabia Volume (China Social Sciences Press, 2023).
