Bio

Bachar El-Halabi is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs. He is also a Dubai-based energy markets and geo-economics analyst and Senior Correspondent at Argus Media, where he covers global energy markets, OPEC+ policy, geopolitics, and Middle East affairs. His reporting and analysis focus on the intersection of energy security, foreign policy, commodities markets, and regional power dynamics, with particular emphasis on the GCC, Iraq, and the wider Middle East.

Prior to joining Argus Media, El-Halabi worked in oil market intelligence and commodities tracking at ClipperData (now Kpler), focusing on crude oil flows and shipping analytics. He has also worked as a reporter at France 24 in Paris and served at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague.

El-Halabi has reported from major international forums and ministerial gatherings, including G20 summits, OPEC+ meetings in Vienna, UN COP climate summits, the Munich Security Conference, ADIPEC, the Future Investment Initiative, the Qatar Economic Forum, the Doha Forum, and the Manama Dialogue.

He has published analysis and commentary with Foreign Policy, the Middle East Institute, the Atlantic Council, and ISPI, among others. His media appearances include Al Jazeera Arabic and English, BBC, Al Arabiya, Sky News Arabia, and international networks across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East
