Background

The Middle East Council on Global Affairs (ME Council), in partnership with CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, convened a two-day workshop to explore new approaches to peacemaking at a time when traditional peace structures are facing unprecedented challenges. The workshop sought to harness regional momentum and chart a collaborative path forward, emphasizing the critical role of Arab leadership in promoting both regional and global stability.

Participants examined how regional efforts can complement the global peace-making system and address its most critical gaps, focusing on two key questions:

• What are the most urgent challenges to peace and mediation today?
• How are Arab states rising to meet them?
