The North Africa Dialogues and Analysis Group (NADA) held its inaugural in-person workshop, “Back to the Future: North Africa 2030,” in Rome on September 8-9, 2025. The workshop convened leading scholars and regional experts to examine the political, economic, and social trajectory of North Africa over the coming decade.
Participants explored the key drivers shaping the region’s future, including governance, security dynamics, economic growth, demographic trends, and social change. The discussions also focused on identifying critical uncertainties and potential scenarios for North Africa in 2030, allowing experts to anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities.
The workshop concluded with a public session where findings were shared with policymakers, practitioners, and wider audiences. This event marked the launch of NADA as an initiative of the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, aiming to strengthen research and dialogue on North Africa and provide forward-looking insights to help understand the region’s evolving dynamics.
