Summary

Having started in Cairo, Egypt in 2003, the Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum has been held annually in Korea and Middle East countries alternatively. The forum is a venue for an in-depth discussion on important issues for the development of a personal network among the participants. It intends to deepen mutual understanding and further develop bilateral relations. This year the 20th Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum was held in Seoul, co-hosted by Korea-Arab Society (KAS), Jeju Peace Institute (JPI), and the Middle East Council on Global Affairs and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of State of Qatar.

The theme of this year’s forum is ” Korea and the Middle East: Past, Present and Future Trajectories “. Session 1 focused on “Harnessing Korea-Middle East Cooperation During Times of Uncertainty”. The topic of Session 2 was “Emerging Technologies: New Areas of Cooperation between Korea and the Middle East,” and “Korea and the Middle East: Towards Deeper Educational, Cultural and People to People Links,” was the topic for Session 3.
