Project Description

Originally launched under the Brookings Doha Center, our Middle East and North Africa (MENA) COVID-19 Policy Response Project explores the impact that COVID-19 had on the MENA region and the different policy and institutional approaches used by governments to respond to the pandemic.

Beyond documenting outcomes, the project seeks to identify innovative and impactful governance responses as well as revealing policy weaknesses exposed by the pandemic, while improving our understanding of what the long-term implications of the pandemic may be for the region’s governments and public sector.  It also seeks to reflect upon how the pandemic can help governments adapt quickly to other global challenges that require an integrated whole-of-government response.
